If you search for website prices you will find everything from $199 to $10,000. Here is what actually changes the price, and what to look for.
The three price ranges
$199 to $549 template sites. You get a basic template and a few pages. These are fine as a placeholder, but they rarely bring in customers and every change costs extra.
$1,500 to $3,000+ custom builds. A real developer builds your site. The results are better, but many small businesses cannot spend that up front, and hosting and updates are often extra.
Setup plus monthly care. This is how Clear Sites Web Agency works: a professional site starting at $500 to set up, then a monthly plan for hosting, security, edits and support.
What drives the cost
- Number of pages. A 5-page site costs less than a 25-page site with service and town pages.
- Custom design versus a template.
- Features such as booking, forms, a CRM or online payments.
- Who writes the content and takes the photos.
- Ongoing care: hosting, security, backups and edits.
Watch out for
- Cheap sites that charge for every small change.
- No clear answer on who owns your domain and content. You should own both.
- Promises of "number one on Google". No one can guarantee a ranking.
- Sites that look good but have no way to call or request a quote.
